A New Beginning in Utah. Again.

It seems I’ve been packing up all my belongings in my car and moving around quite a bit lately. This week I moved back to Utah. Last time around I lived in Park City and this time I’m living with roommates in Salt Lake City. I’ve been a tightly wound ball of anxiety and so far the inversion layer has made SLC look like a smoggy, icy mess. I’m not a huge fan of driving to begin with and the icy roads mixed with bad visibility due to smog/fog is stressing me out.

It wasn’t until I drove up to Park City and saw the mountains that I knew why I was back. I have made this move before, but this time it’s different. I don’t have the dream job, great boyfriend and nice apartment. This time I’m living on a snowboard bum’s budget and a lot of things uncertain. But I’m here because of my passion for snowboarding, the mountains and the people who live here.

I have no clue what the future holds and where I will ultimately end up. But right now I’m focusing on myself and trying to stop worrying about the future and just enjoy the present. Obviously easier said than done. I’m heading up to Park City for my first day back snowboarding and another night on the new job. Wish me luck.

Yes, I agree the uncertainty of circumstances in your “fly by the seat of your pants” migrations can be very unsettling and cause you to be a bit anxious. However, it must be comforting to know that you have a huge contingent of supporters (friends and loved ones) who are living vicariously through you! Make it great, make it grand! Most importantly, make it on your own terms! Or, just make it! It takes a lot of ingredients to make a great cake, so each voyage or adventure you take will contribute to a life that deserves to have icing on the top!

Mimi, from someone who also picked up and moved and had a new beginning 20 years ago….I can relate to all the emotions you are going thru now. All I can say is BELIEVE in yourself, trust your instincts and take one day at a time. God will take care of the rest. Remember that you are awesome, talented, smart and most of all loved…..I for one can’t wait to hear and see thru your pictures and blog the continuing adventure of your incredible life…..We love you!!!!
